New Book Cover Design Project

This is what a business in Australia was looking for in their book cover design

I’m about to publish my second book with a publisher in Melbourne and they’ve come up with a design for the cover that I’m not happy with so I’m going out on my own! The elements that I wanted in it were the photo of my partner in front of Parliament House, the title and a couple of cover notes. Somehow the version that the publishers have come up with seems a little clunky. Hoping for something that still catches the eye on the bookstands but also has a bot more sophistication about it.
Ive included all these original elements as well as the publisher’s mock up below.
