I'm Chanel, I'm an object and graphic designer, and illustrator, and soon to be web designer.  I have always loved design and so I, as many a design addict studied design at the College of Fine Arts (COFA), UNSW. I was so inspired and wide eyed the first time I set foot at COFA. Truth be told, I first entered COFA as a Fine Arts student then transferred to design discovering my calling. Unknowingly, one year in Fine Arts would forever influence my practise, and resulted in developing my illustrative style of design. Completing my first year of Fine Arts at COFA I was able to transfer across to Design and that is where my design journey began.  As a newly graduate designer, I started my career as an intern at Design Identity. I embraced everyday, conveying a can-do attitude and a sense of initiative while also assisting the team with deep etching. Utilising these skills, I was able to progress into a management position. Before I knew it I was project managing clients jobs, accurately invoicing clients, ensuring brand guidelines were followed and managed interns to assist the studio in meeting tight deadlines. Design Identity enhanced my leadership skills, time management and ability to communicate with clients. It further provided me with a heightened sense of initiative and enhanced my interest in the potential for web technologies. Being the Accounts and Personal Assistant to the CEO at Design Identity I was able to improve the efficiency and organisation of the company, improve client relations and while interning I successfully project managed various trial photoshoots resulting in the client signing on for future photoshoots. Currently undertaking a Certificate IV in Web Based Technologies at Sydney TAFE I am pursing my new found interest in digital design. I am inspired by the potential for digital technologies and am eager to move into the digital space and utilise my rapidly growing skills in HTML 5, CSS and Javascript. Digital technologies for me is a way to communicate with audiences, a heightened experience and a fluid canvas to inspire. hide
