Why I’m doing this: Consumers have everyday routine and habits which are taken for granted and not very aware how their daily behaviour affects the planet. Only a few are changing and questioning their carbon footprints … … Where does electricity comes from and what happens with nuclear waste? … Why are bananas wrapped in plastic at the supermarket? … What are the alternatives to Fossil Fuels? … Why are the fields bare of bad weeds … Where is our meat coming from? I want the Carnivores be healed by extreme confrontation. One of my primary topics is our ever growing meat consumption and its mass production overflowing cheaply at the supermarket counters. Where is our meat coming from and how much antibiotic and growth hormones and what are the long term consequences of this consumption? Daily meat eating choices takes a significant toll on the environment. With my work, I would like to stir people into action and to revolt against these pitfalls of consumerism which are destroying the planet. My aim is to use methods from the applied and the fine arts to attract attention and understanding in making the consumer change their everyday habits and routine to help preserve the environment. I want to expand the concept of jewellery and bring an agitated excitement to everyday subjects. My work deals with shocking topics which are not easily digestible but meant to be thought provoking. This approach will not immediately change the world, but certainly will contribute to how people can work to affect change on a level beyond their personal power. A combination of image and sound, artwork, performance art, graphic, product and jewellry design are being used to promote my ideas. Exploitation movies like “Clockwork Orange” for example, shows it is possible to enter the conscience in form of anti therapy and the effect of this. Guerrilla communication such as stickers, buttons, Internet Activities (Youtube movies and social networking website, Facebook, etc.) should help to burn these issues deep in the spirit eyes of our folk. The "stop factory farms" project divides into art and design then merges into wearable and unwearable jewellery. The stark and grotesque character of the non wearable jewellery immediately transforms them into sculptures with important messages. hide
