During project assignments I carried out extensive research to produce inspirational mood boards and became familiar with current design software. Since completing my studies I have demonstrated and developed my skills during the course of a number of graphic design positions and I have the ability, experience and motivation. In the penultimate year of my degree studies, I was awarded a summer work experience placement with Solent Creatives, an established Graphics Design company in Southampton whose clients include Marks and Spencer and the NHS. Developing logos and working with different font styles and layouts on Solent University material, I worked to client briefs, met every deadline, and had my final designs transmitted for printing. As a member of a small hard working team in my current employment with a new online retail company for car enthusiasts, I have taken a very active role, by not only creating artwork for T-shirts, but also in marketing the brand and the products it sells. I have used my graphic design skills to design offline and online promotional material such as website banners, both animated and static, and postcards. I have photographed on fashion shoots. I have been involved in email campaigns, created Facebook covers and fashion look books illustrating the clothing pieces. I am currently working on Search Engine Optimisation, creating clear and appealing titles, and product descriptions with a view to maximising web sales and enhancing customer experience. I am also a content creator for the company on Facebook, creating posts, adding apps. and responding to comments. With such a varied role, it is my dedication, good organisation, strong time management skills and ability to prioritise my work, that enable me to keep to the company’s schedules and meet the deadlines set. In addition to my current full time graphics design role, I have followed my interest in fashion to become a volunteer graphic designer for the bi-monthly online fashion magazine entitled Dalliance. As a listed contributor, I design feature articles for inclusion in the magazine and for distribution on the internet. While at school, I took my first job as a retail assistant for the leading unisex sportswear brand, Adidas, receiving the employee of the month award three times during my temporary employment. I have also worked for Triumph and currently work for the luxury brand, Mulberry, on a part time basis at weekends. I understand the importance of branding and my success as a retail assistant can be attributed to the fact that I work hard to be a good ambassador for the company for which I am working. I ensure I understand the organisation’s ethos and have an accurate knowledge of the merchandise I am selling in order that I can meet the company’s aspirations, assist their customers effectively and maintain and improve sales figures. In addition to my design abilities, I have personal skills. I am a fast learner and adapt well to advances in design. I am a competent user of design software, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign. I am reliable and can work as part of a team or on my own initiative. I have a strong work ethic as demonstrated by my employment history. I have confidence and good interpersonal skills that enable me to communicate comfortably with customers, colleagues, suppliers and management staff alike. hide
