In the late 1980s, when I was still in high school, I began designing t-shirts for local skate shops and bands. Since then I have worked in numerous capacities as an artist or designer. Over the years I have developed my own personal approach to what I do. I have borrowed elements from many different styles over the years and made them my own, but I do not tend to follow trends. As Coco Chanel once said, "Fashion fades, only style remains the same." I believe there is a lot of truth in that statement. What is trendy now may be utterly rejected in a mere five years, but a well designed piece will remain timeless forever. In 2014 I received my degree in graphic design from the Community College of Vermont putting an official title what I have been doing for the last three decades. My influences range from the Bauhaus and Swiss styles, to Mucha and beyond. My illustration work tends to have a very traditional painterly feel to it, even though I have been working digitally for the last 20 years. A lot of my illustration influences come from the traditional world of science fiction book covers and Heavy Metal magazine fare. I grew up on that, along with comic books and Boris Vallejo. I find a lot of modern work to be cold and without feeling, made in Photoshop, from stock photos, with very little personal attention to detail. I work in various software applications, most notably Illustrator, Photoshop, and Manga Studio. hide
