Franchise Complier

This is what a business in New Zealand was looking for in their icon design

This is an Apple iPhone App icon for an application called Franchise Complier with a soon to be completed website FranchiseComplier.com

The app provides companies who franchise in the U.S. with state-by-state franchise guidelines and regulatory dates. (Not sexy, but important).

As this is only for sale in the U.S. store some color or flag backdrop might work, but also may not be needed. For franchise design you might want to consider including a branching set of connected dots, as in a left to right set with one dot on the left, two dots and then three all connected with lines as in a tree diagram with the top single dot to the left and a blurred piece of the U.S. flag as a backdrop, but this is only one idea, so do not feel constrained by this description.
