Logo Design Brief

Mommypotamus.com is a real food / organic lifestyle / alternative health blog written by my wife, Heather. It is a blend of deep, thoughtful research and fun-loving, approachable personality. The content is sophisticated, yet written in an approachable way that most beginners will be able to digest. It's not pretentious, but it does cover serious and sometimes controversial topics (child vaccinations, circumcision, fluoride toxicity, etc). It also covers fun recipes for family and children. The logo should be horizontal, with illustrated hippo first and site name to the right.

The logo should emulate the look and feel of the logo attached. If it hadn't been designed for someone else, we would want this exact animal for the logo. So please try to capture the same pose/feel/simplicty.

The hippo should be simple and cute and iconic like the example.

The text should either be two separate fonts or two different thicknesses of the same font.

Mommypotamus is one word.

The logo must look good on a mostly white site. The current site design will be going away, and the site will be presenting more white space and larger images for each post (at least 720 pixels wide). We'll be using anywhere from 1200 to 1400 px of width for actual content.

The logo should be noticeable and yet able to blend with many different colors of large high resolution photos. Simple colors are better to start.

Moms with young children who take the time to prepare real foods, unprocessed whole food meals for their families and who research alternative health.
