I need a logo design for a personal but highly growth focused investing blog called "DIY Investing." The blog focuses on providing readers with the knowledge and tools they need to become a successful investor, starting from no knowledge at all. We are inspiring the next generation of DIY'ers with a focus on understanding investments, so that our users can be enrich themselves. Eventually a forum and store will be added to the website, so the logo has to be able to be marketable for sales as well.
I want a final design that can communicate trust and authority. I have a preference towards simplicity and a sleek professionalism. I am open to designs of any color base. I tend to like the colors blue and/or orange, but lack experience in design, so would be just as happy to have a different color.
Ideally, the logo will include some sort of Icon which can be used without the words "DIY Investing" as well as part of the full logo. (Example: Such as the icons that display in tabs for webpages at the top of the screen) The logo should easily scale with size both large and small.
The initial use of the logo will be in the header of my website, but the goal is for it to be easily adaptable to other settings, both online and off.
Requested Files: All normal logo files/formats, plus a Favicon(the little logo) with files as mentioned for the corner of a web-page tab.
Target Market(s)
My target demographic either has higher than average income or wealth.
They would tend to be intelligent, well-read, and intellectually minded. Most would have some sort of professional career: doctors, engineers, lawyers, etc...
My initial focus market will be young professionals new to working within the past 5-10 years and wanting to learn about investing and put their money to work. However, I still want to appeal to a large and broad audience. My brand should be suitable for wide-scale growth.

Requirements
Must have
- The words: "DIY Investing"
- Some sort of pictorial design with the words. Something that can function on it's own as a logo or Favicon without the words. It is okay if that pictorial design was part of one of the letters or words though. It just needs to be able to be independent.
Nice to have
- My initial thought is no more than three colors, with a preference for one or two. A three color design done well might work well, but I will be using the logo colors and basing my website design off of them. Therefore, I want to limit the # of colors to make the design workable.
- Black-and-white file version of the logo, for non-color printing.
- It would be nice to have some sort of direct or indirect allusion to investing, finance, money, or assets/asset management in the design somehow.
Should not have
- Logo should not be flashy or gaudy.
- Logo should not be solely the words "DIY Investing" but should include a symbol, icon, or creative use of the letters that could be brand-able as a smaller segment.
- Logo should not include a tagline in it. My current tagline is: "Teaching you to take control of your investments." However, this tagline is liable to change, so I want to be flexible on the logo.
