Logo Design Brief

Building a site to allow community reviews / photos and a forum on campgrounds and camp sites. I am Graphically challenged!

Camping / outdoor themed Design should be fun and clear. I would think more solid colors than gradients but again, I am graphically challenged.

Would like to be able to have the logo as a whole as well as be able to pull a part of the logo to use a watermark/ theme....

If i had a vision maybe a dog (scout) with binoculars looking for a campsite???
I like the idea of a character dog as part of my logo. I am thinking a modern take on snoopy sitting on his doghouse. Obviously dont want a dog sitting on a tent as I think that is too much of a rip off.
That is the best way I can describe the "feel" I am going for.

But really open to anything fun.
