Logo Design Brief

I am an independent filmmaker looking for a logo for my production company out of San Francisco, CA. The company, No Budget Films, will make no and low budget short and feature films and this logo will be used in front of the movies, on websites, posters, DVDs, and promotional materials.

I would like something that looks professional enough to be displayed on the center of your local movie theater screen but that has elements and characteristics that denote a home made or jerry rigged quality. Or perhaps something with that DIY quality that can easily convert into a slick, clean logo. I also want it to be both cool and fun.

Finally, ideally it would be something that lends itself to being animated in some fashion. How and what that animation would look like is probably beyond the scope of this contest, but it's just something to keep in mind.

As an example, years ago I had an idea for the logo with a big NBF where the letters where stylized but made out of 2x4s, strips of metal and plastic, duct tape, pieces of other stuff like a broken water cooler jug, half a desk, and some of the logo was painted, but the paint wasn't finished. But then the shape of those stylized letters could become solid and black and white (or any color) and they would look professional and clean.
