To better help me design a logo, what was the inspiration behind the company name?

Matthew,
The company name came from our high school mascot, which heavily utilized the thunderbolt. The Kilo was just a prefix that "sounded right" at the time.

Hi, the sample you have is only text...you would like to have a logo without text? maybe just initials??
