It is ok to not use them. You could use a totally different graphic as well.

This is an interesting project,

Pictorial Graphics that symbolize water, earth, fire, and air (wind), are good directions to try.

Someone suggested that symbols that look like the elements would communicate the associations. It may be challenging to keep it uncluttered though.

Dsign- I've considered doing that. This is my first time using the site, so I am seeing for the first time what kind of responses I will get as is. If I need more submissions, I'll likely add awards by day 2 or 3.
