Logo Design Brief
I need a logo for myself as a certified Iyengar yoga teacher. I do NOT own a yoga studio. I've been teaching for 7 years.
My teachings are clear and systematic and I have a presence in class. I'm patient, personable and approachable. Iyengar yoga emphasizes precision and alignment and is one of the most influential and widely-practiced yoga in the world today.
Primary target audience: complete beginners (men and women) to yoga and those who want to try Iyengar yoga.
Secondary audience: experienced students (men and women) of yoga or Iyengar yoga.
Age group: 18-60 years
Logo design to incorporate the main title, i.e., my name AZIANI ISMAIL and secondary title, i.e., the kind of yoga I teach, IYENGAR YOGA.
Logo may incorporate a yoga pose (stylized, non-stylized or silhouette) that's simpler so it doesn't scare potential beginners away.
Some examples of simpler poses are in the 2 files that I've uploaded as part of this brief. All poses are demonstrated by Mr BKS Iyengar. Please use these as a guide. For further information on Iyengar yoga, please google "BKS Iyengar yoga" or "BKS Iyengar" or check out his classic book "Light on Yoga".
I like Arabic calligraphy as a stylized approach because it can, depending on the specific style, be elegant and dynamic but I'm open to other approaches. NO sitting meditation pose, no lotus flower as these are so common in yoga logos. Logo needs to look good in black/white, reverse and in the proposed colors. I don't want a busy-looking, complicated design. NO gimmicky logo either.
Alternatively, you may propose a design that does not use a yoga pose (stylized or otherwise), since the secondary title (Iyengar yoga) is self explanatory. I would consider these as long as they convey the qualities of the logo explained in this brief. One idea I have is a strong, bold Zen circle as part of the logo design.
The following are the style attributes I look for (based on a scale of 1-10):
more abstract than literal (6-7/10)
more organic than geometric (6-7/10)
more modern than classic (8/10)
even between masculine and feminine (5/10)
even between mature and youthful (5/10)
more sophisticated than playful (6-7/10)
even between economical and luxurious (5/10)
I prefer fonts that are contemporary as I want to convey the message that yoga is applicable to modern life. I see the final design as simple but striking, memorable, contemporary and conveys confidence. Colors that you propose need to reflect these qualities. I think orange is a good color but I'm open to suggestions. Preferably there can be additional 1 or at most 2 secondary colors.
The final chosen logo will be used for a business card, flyers and a website so your design needs to work well in these different mediums. Please provide all files in required formats for these use. Also I would eventually need to know the exact font and colors used so there's consistency in the business card, flyers and website.
