Logo Design Brief

We are based in London and in the process of setting up a new Venture Partner and Incubation business for the Asset Management industry.

The Business:
In a nutshell we co-design, co-create and collaborate with talented portfolio managers to establish new asset management businesses or indeed enable some to scale faster. We also are going to offer global distribution (sales) down the road.

The Challenge:
We want to stand out from the Financial Market crowed without being too aggressive. Firms in our industry range from Goldman Sachs to Blackstone and from Bain Capital to Gobi Ventures, ie global financial services firms.

The Situation:
We like fresh colours a la green and yellow but have currently opted for simple dark red for our logo; pale blues could work too but we probably would not want to walk in the 'dark blue' shoes of so many financial services firms. We have the following colour codes available: HEX #87C80A, HEX #FFDB10, HEX #F41F71/#5C0941, HEX #B2E5E6 and lastly HEX #FE6500

Background:
Our firm is called CITE Investments. CITE = 'to quote', or citation. For that reason we have used an inverse 'comma' as our current logo. It is simple and clean, easily recognizable but probably too simplistic, if that makes sense!?
CITE actually stands for Collaboration, Insight, Transparency, and Engagement.

Brief:
We would like design suggestions that follow the conservative nature of the industry without falling into the 'dull'/'accounting industry'-type category. We want to communicate that we are Entrepreneurs for Entrepreneurs and willing to "innovate" in a highly conservative industry. Colour codes above are for guidance only but will be used for our new website build that is ongoing at present. So the logo should complement those colours or echo it/them.

Requirements
Must have
  • The logo can consist of a "Nike-swoosh'-type element (we currently use the inverted comma), could use the name of the firm "CITE Investments" or make use of the tag-line "Venture Partner in Asset Management".
Or indeed a combination of the above!
Nice to have
  • We like the wordplay of "CITE" - read backwards "ETIC" -> Ethical?
    Further wordplay's "CITE-seeing" for a newsletter, or "In-CITE" etc.
We have used the inverse 'comma' to reflect the 'to quote', 'to cite' a reference. Possibly too simple?
Should not have
  • Do not use any gimmicky illustrations, the fonts should be clearly readable and not too 'signature'-style like.
We have a few customers a year and are not mass-market. So the Logo must speak to them: think Wall Street Journal or Financial Times readers.
