Logo Design Brief

We need a logo design for one of our clients, who is starting up a new company in Great Britain called Comfy Quilts. This is an innovative design of continental quilt principally aimed at university students.

The vector logo should include 2 elements :

- illustration of a slow loris with a quilt
- the company name.

The slow loris is a nocturnal primate – this is why it has such big round eyes. More information can be found here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slow_loris. It is important to notice the visual difference around the eyes between the slow loris and the slender loris – the eyes are very important in this logo, they should have just the right reflection – “gleam” or “glint”. This could be a segment, or a circle, or a linked double circle – whatever suits the illustration and makes the eyes sparkle.

It would be interesting to show the loris comfortably nestled or cocooned within a quilt, as in the attached sketches. Or maybe with the quilt pulled around its shoulders. We are open to all suggestions, but the quilt must be recognisable as a duvet, and the loris must be cosy and snug inside or beneath it.

The overall design must show the loris as a cute, friendly and contented animal, and should be warm and welcoming. Note that the target market is not for babies, so it should not be represented in a babyish way – think of the parent of an 18 year-old girl making the purchase.

The final logo will be printed on cloth (cotton, poly-cotton, possibly polyester), packaging, stationery, and a wide range of other supports. It is currently planned to both print and embroider it, so this should be taken into account – embroidery will lose fine details.

The final design should be usable at sizes ranging from approximately 2cm wide to 30 cm wide, with exceptional uses at larger sizes (for example on stands at trade fairs). It can be an illustration or a cartoon but for the final file please provide us an illustrator file and fonts you’ve used.

We are happy to consider both so long as the design is the right tone, friendly, cute and reassuring.

• Facial features should correspond closely to the attached pdf, in terms of colour of fur, ear shape and position etc. Note that the colours on the pdf are not reference colours, this was scanned from a poor quality print.

• too much complexity, too babyish a feeling
