My name is Bamboo Bob.I have been supplying bamboo branches and leaves to a number of zoos including Chicago Zoological (Brookfield Zoo), Detroit Zoological Society, Lincoln Park Zoo, Potter Park Zoo and ZooMontana, among others.I also supply bamboo plants to zoos that want to grow bamboo to feed their animals. The bamboo we supply is used predominantly to feed the red pandas.Side note, according to the AZA Red Panda Species Survival Plan in section 5, which addresses nutritional requirements, there is a list of bamboo species that are fed to red pandas on page 20. This is a care plan for red pandas which is used by the zoos that belong to the American Zoological Association, among others.I have been harvesting and shipping a number of these varieties to many zoos with great results and outstanding feedback, and, since 65%-75% of a red panda’s diet should consist of bamboo, I would like to make your AZA members (and Canadian zoos as well) aware that we strip and ship bamboo branches and leaves within 2 hours of harvest. Typically the bamboo is shipped by FEDEX Ground and delivered within a few days, depending on distance and urgency. Additionally, we ship or deliver (depending on distance) bamboo plants to zoos that are looking to create a bamboo farm onsite. To give you a little history, I was contacted by Detroit Zoological Society almost a year ago, when they became dissatisfied with the product/services of their previous bamboo supplier. We began supplying DZS, and soon the word spread to other zoos about the quality of the bamboo and the customer service we pride ourselves on, and we received requests to supply them with fresh, high quality bamboo to feed their red pandas and other animals, too. Most of our business in this sector is by word of mouth...We are members of AZA, which is where we want to start with the post card campaign, as well as the American Bamboo Society, Association of Zoological Horticulture and numerous other organizations. We have a few pictures of red pandas eating the bamboo that I supply, but want to send out a mind blowing postcard to all zoos to promote new business.By the way, my company, Touch the Earth, is the foremost supplier of live bamboo for residential and commercial applications, both indoor and outdoor. We install, remove, maintain bamboo, supply bamboo branches and leaves to zoos for animal feed, and we offer consulting services. Our website, idigbamboo.com, will explain this in more detail.Would like to have pictures of red pandas on the front, or maybe just one incredible one, but we are open to any and all ideas. I have attached a picture that we already have of Zoe and Duli with my bamboo, which can be incorporated or not... On the back of the card, I would like to have my logo picture, also attached, to the left of the address section.
