Poplar Brand Development
2 Companies – 1 Brand
Name of company 1: Poplar Business Services
Name of company 2: Poplar Wealth Management
Colors:
1. a forest green matching the upper side of a poplar leaf
2. a lighter green matching the underside of a poplar leaf
3. a Charleston green, which is mostly black, for the lettering
I have two businesses opening under the same brand. The brand will be of a leaf of the Tulip Poplar Tree. I chose this tree because it is a strong organic symbol signifying stability and growth. Additionally, the "Davie Poplar" on the campus of UNC Chapel Hill, my alma mater, is an inspiration as it is strong and has lasted 350 years.
I would like the 4 sections and veins in the leaf to be emphasized. I will use these to create illustrations of how, on the wealth management side, budgeting, money management, risk protection and estate planning are core components to our offerings. On the business services side, the 4 sections will signify bookkeeping, tax, web design/hosting and brand management. The veins will be used to illustrate the finer points.
However, for now, I want to focus on a professional looking brand that would be appropriate for business cards, signage, t-shirts, websites and all types of uses.
The poplar leaf is distinctive in that there is a great difference between the color of the top of the leaf and the bottom of the leaf. One is a dark forest green, the other is a light green. I would like to incorporate these colors into the design. An option is to show the leaf turning like pages in a book. This angle isn't a requirement, just an idea.
The lettering should be in "Charleston Green". Charleston green is almost black. This is based on the reformation period after the american civil war, Charleston SC residents were given paint for rebuilding. They received mostly black paint and a little yellow. When mixed together, Charleston Green was created. I think this would be a fine color scheme.
Thank you for all your work.
