Book Cover Design Brief

I need a book cover design for the first book in a series. It is a fantasy story about a boy who discovers that the soldiers tasked with protecting his village are running a slave trade. He must wait until his majority before he can journey to the capital to inform the King because minors are not allowed to attempt travel through the dangerous Folger Forest also called the Dark Heart of Yal. For decades people have been attacked on the forest paths by long vines that drag them away never to be seen again. He learned of the trade from an escaped village girl abducted from her home. Between the ages of 15 and 18 he travels with the leaders of an army company that has been sent to the Dark Heart to put a stop to the slave trade - not that he knows this. An attraction develops between him and the second in command. (This is a male gay relationship but there are no explicit scenes.) The girl reappears at the end of the book as an emissary of the plant beast that has been attacking people. She has been symbiotically linked to the plant. The attached picture has inspired me but I do not have the copyright to use it.
The design should feature two young males - one (the main character) classically handsome with a serious face and brown haired with blue-green eyes. The other (the love interest) is blonde and a soldier. If his shoulder is visible he should have a patch with the word Lanel above a capital C. The design should also incorporate the concept of a symbiotic relationship between people and plants - as inspired by the attached picture.
