Logo Design Brief

We need a logo for a project called nautical.me, which is to become (don't quote me on this) a linkedin for the superyacht sector (crew profiles and training milestones), a place to share environmental and ocean reporting data etc. all to do with the water and community.
Please have a chat with me (skype, facetime, hangout) before you design.
The main colours we think should be blue, but we will be very open to suggestions. Company behind it is SEA ID (www.sea-id.org), a square orange with white typeface. That also needs a new (updated) logo, but not now :-).
The logo for nautical.me should communicate trustworthiness, clean and community.

A very failed attempt is attached (what we're using now on https://nautical.me)
