Logo Design Brief

We need a logo design for a company based in Nottingham, UK. The company is called The After School Kid.

The After School Kid will be a fun and interactive website for parents of school age children. The website will provide a wealth of information and exciting content on all clubs and activities that are available for children to join after school. For example there will be a menu system for each of the different categories - sports clubs, drama classes, Arts and craft groups, performing arts, half term clubs, holiday camps and private tutors (to name just a few!).

The menu will be colour coded for each category e.g. sports pages may be blue, Drama pages may be green etc.

The Logo needs to be bright and colourful, the same colours will be used for the category menu (on the homepage).

The website is to make parents lives easier, they no longer need to trail through 100's of leaflets and searches on the web. The After School Kid provides all they need in one place!

Advertising and Marketing

'The After School Kid' needs to be read easily from a distance as we want to advertise on the back of large local double decker buses
Communicates to both male and female audiences (mums AND dads)
The final design should communicate - a fun, choice and trust

Although the business name has been chosen, we are still deciding over the slogan. Therefore a change in wording may be needed during this process on that area.

Target Market(s)

Parents and carers of school age children (their kids will be from 5years to 13 years). The website will have information on local business (directory style with a full business page for each business i.e a ballet school). This site is mainly for parents willing to pay for after school activities.

Requirements

Must have

• Bright and funky colours
• Eye catching design
• The wording needs to be easily read from a distance (for bus advertisements etc)
• The colours need to be exciting and fresh rather than soft and calming
• Simple yet effective

Nice to have

• I quite like the idea of having drawings of 'little people' (like netmums.com and kallikids) but it needs to be totally different.
• I would prefer the wording to be all in the same line with the logo above it, but will be open minded to other options.

Should not have

• Colours that are too female orientated I want to communicate and attract both Male and Female audiences.
• Avoid colours that communicate more to parents of babies / toddlers.
• Please avoid a colour scheme too close to Kallikids and netmums (2 competitors), lilac, purple and grey together.
• Nothing too complex, the design needs to be used on Tshirts, flyers, posters, bus advertisement
