id like to take part in this project please guarantee and extend the deadline :)

According to the terms I read - if I'm not satisfied with the resulting images submitted - the money (I already paid in-escrow) will be refunded. I pre-paid US$185 for a header graphic. I've now found other sites where I could've had a complete website (header graphic and all) for roughly the same price.

Sorry but I'm not about to 'guarantee' the payment and lose it if I'm not satisfied with the submissions.

After-all, isn't that what this site is all about anyway?

you can get a website and everything else for 185usd ? i very much doubt from a decent designer bare in mind 1st place is 120usd then take away 15%for design crowd isnt very much for a graphic design, i just wanted to do this project for fun.

there are many good reasons to guarantee your project. I think you have the wrong idea about these websites.
There are many guaranteed project here alone, so really it comes down to - why should we design for a none guarenteed project when there are serious projects that adverage at double the price for half the work.

I would suspect this is also the reason why you have 0 designs as of yet, it sounds like you have this contest running on other website too ?

Guaranteeing a project protects the designer from wasting time on creating concepts for a client. If you are dissatisfied with submissions, you can extend the deadline as many times as you want until someone meets your vision. Guaranteeing a project ensures that someone will be awarded the prize at some point and given the fact that there is over 20k designers working here, you will surely find something that satisfies you eventually.

Of course, not guaranteeing the project is your prerogative and fine. I'm just letting you know why you've received 0 submissions.

(Also, $185 isn't even in the ballpark of what it costs for a full website design so I would be cautious of these other sites you've browsed. Just a tip.)

great so what sizes should we keep in mind when designing ?

by Project Owner on Monday, October 3, 2011

I'm a 'newbie' so I'm not certain. Initially I'm touting one engine pre-heater but I want to add more products as I find them and become an affiliate. So I guess I'll need a shopping cart (which I can get through my hosting account - Host Gator).

The size would depend upon factors I don't yet know about. (still learning) What would YOU recommend?

Actually I'm a system/product designer by trade. I've learnt SALES is where the real money is and online sales seems an easier/cheaper way to get into the industry.

I helped develop the Hubble Space Telescope, IBM's 'Deep Blue' computer, 'Broadband' fibre optiks, Ink-Jet Printers and some other commercial and military systems/products.

Design work leaves you too open to the whims of employers, beancounters and/or meglomaniacs. ;-)

i just create it in a box shape - it will be vector so you can scale it how you need il get my design to you later today

by Project Owner on Wednesday, October 5, 2011

Ok.
I've no idea what a 'vector' is (in website design - only aircraft weapons targeting and spacecraft launching) but go for it.

BTW: Are you the ONLY designer submitting - after I 'guaranteed'?

lol looks like it for now :P

vector is a image format
