I believe that everyone should have the right to a beautiful home. As a teacher and single mother with a very limited budget I have to get creative. I shop thrift stores and tag sales and friends’ homes to salvage pieces of furniture and repurpose them, giving those pieces a second life. The technique I use depends upon the piece. I refinish furniture, use milk and chalk paint, and wax. I love to distress and create a chippy finish. With a lot of meticulous work, I can give new life and a new purpose to my finds. All of my pieces are one-of-a-kind. Each piece has character, a past life, and that’s what I love about them. Since my house can hold only so much and I continue to find amazing pieces, I decided to start a business to share what I make with others. I also want to share the tricks and tips in my blog that I have learned with others to inspire their own creativity. The Turned Leg sells salvaged and repurposed furniture and home goods in the metro Detroit area. All pieces are unique. Pieces are hand painted using a variety of finishes like Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. The Turned Leg transforms and repurposes a variety of home accents and solid wood furniture by hand with creative flair, using diverse painting and staining techniques. Our unique pieces blend into any home decor and include chairs, shelves, desks, footstools and china cabinets. We’re hands-on and personal in our approach to achieving our final product as well as hunting down and discovering our goods in unusual and unexpected environs. Every piece has a story to tell, a history and character that our finishes reveal and our technique retells for use in today’s homes. The Turned Leg takes inspiration from the piece itself to determine the color and approach we take. Our one-of-a-kind pieces fit into most budgets.Design - Please check out the current logo on my website www.theturnedleg.com. I like the general idea of it but would like it changed a bit. I DO like the current font from my logo. I would like a new logo that uses a furniture leg (maybe just and outline or ink drawing). I have attached pictures of "legs" that I like. I like the shape of the leg from the white china cabinet best. I also like the shape of the white table leg but not the ornate swirls. If those were removed (making the shape more like the leg from the china cabinet) I think the squat design of the leg would look better for a logo. I would also like the logo to be in a circle and the name of the company The Turned Leg at the top and the words Salvage, Repurpose & Create around the bottom. I also would like a half circle or full circle brush stroke (minus the brush) in the design to symbolize the painting I do. I like earthy tones for color. I want the design for business cards, rubber stampers, t-shirts and signs. Below are the pictures I mentioned and my old logo. Thank you so much for your help! I look forward to your designs!

Must have
- Circular design, similar colors to my website www.theturnedleg.com (earthy tones), same font as previous design, include a turned leg and a paint brush swoop. The logo will be used for my website, facebook, pinterest, creating t'shirts, rubber stamps and other promotional items.
Nice to have
- Info on the shape of the turned leg picture to include in the logo: I like the shape of the table leg but less ornate and more like the leg of the china cabinet.
Should not have
- Colors that clash with my website. Keep it earthy.
