Logo Design Brief

Ithaca Renting Company is a property management firm focusing on high rise student residential and commercial space. Ithaca NY is the home of Cornell University (Big Red) and Ithaca College. The community is actively engaged in social action and green energy projects. The city is built on hills surrounding Lake Cayuga, and there are many waterfalls and parks. The current motto of IRC is "Rent Smart. Live Well." Alternative mottos would be considered, but need to be connected to the general concepts of renting/leasing of real property. We are looking for designs that symbolize high rise buildings, on or at the top of a hill. Colors should be symbolic of Ithaca and Cornell (blue, green and/or red) in a way that is eye-catching yet work well together. The logo also needs to be capable of being iconized for inclusion in a mobile app, so an overly complex design probably will not work. See updated assignment in Must Have.

Must have

• We are looking for designs that symbolize high rise buildings, on or at the top of a hill. Colors should be symbolic of Ithaca and Cornell (blue, green and/or red) in a way that is eye-catching yet work well together. Modern look that will attract younger crowd (college students)
• UPDATED: Must have "Ithaca Renting" on one line. Underneath must have motto "Rent Smart. Live Well." Please make sure period after Smart and Well. Owner wants to have his building in the logo. It has tough angles and is on a hill. see attached photo that has been partially edited to delete background. Lines showing shape and windows ok. No peaked roof houses; the look is high rise, not residential. Font needs to translate well into web, letterhead and business card. Existing logo is attached for reference only. This needs to be modernized.
