                            Our Story
Fathom Research is an offshoot of MotiveQuest www.motivequest.com a leading full service social research company serving the Fortune 500.  MotiveQuest has been gathering data and building software since 2003.  MotiveQuest has focused on digging beneath “what” people are saying online to understand “why” they are saying it.  We have designed every piece of software to answer specific Fortune 500 marketing questions.  Things like “What do my customers care about most?”  or “How can I deepen my Facebook engagement?”  
During the last years we realized that many of these questions are not specific only to the Fortune 500 and, that we are  rather good at answering them.  We decided to create a separate company – Fathom Research – to enable  people to be able to access these revolutionary tools on their own.
Rather than create a broad dashboard focused on many different possible questions, each of Fathom’s tools is designed to answer one specific question really well.  Think of the tools like you would the apps on your phone.  You want the weather app to be really good at telling you the weather and the news app to tell you what is going on in the world.  The more each app tries to do the less effective it is.
The first tool is designed to answer the question:  “How can I deepen my engagement with my customers on Facebook?”  The tool is powered by MotiveQuest’s rich, clean data and world class software.  It is also a tool with a real person behind it.  The tool incorporates a system to let you talk to the software geek who wrote the interface and let him know what you think and how to make it better. 
As we continue to role out additional tools that answer marketing questions, Fathom will continue to focus on three things:

- Simplicity
- Inspiration
We have decided to launch the Facebook tool under the new brand Fathom Research www.fathomresearch.com  (Note the look and feel of the site will change this weekend so don't design the logo to that style).  The tool will come from Fathom but be powered by MotiveQuest.
 
We decided to do this in order to avoid any marketplace confusion between MotiveQuest (High end, full service, expensive) and the new tools (Broad market, self service affordable).
 
The new website will reflect the look and feel of Fathom.
