Logo Design Brief

Knight Move Solutions, Inc. is a startup custom software development firm. The goal of this project is to come up with a logo for this new company. The name Knight Move Solutions was carefully chosen specifically for the key words “Knight Move”. “Knight Move” is a direct reference to the move a player makes with the Knight piece in chess. The direct reference was made for the following reasons that apply to Knight Move Solutions as a custom software development shop.

Any chess move symbolizes:
- Intelligence
- Critical Thinking
- Strategy
- Planning
- Vision
- Goals

A Knight Move in chess is completely different from the moves of all other pieces on the board, which symbolizes:
- Leading and Pioneering as opposed to following or being like other movements
- Creativity
- Innovation
- Thinking out of the box

A Knight symbolizes:
- Security
- Strength
- Honor
- Nobility
- Righteousness

The Horse (i.e. the Knight piece on the chess board) symbolizes:
- Humility (serves)
- Work Ethic (work horse)
- Performance, Tenacity and Competitiveness (race horse)
- Integrity (trusty steed)
- Beauty, Class and Dignity (stallion)

The primary challenge is to create a logo (symbol) that encompasses as many of the values above as possible in its look & feel. Keep in mind that this is a technology company so the logo should have an appropriate look and feel for tech.

General Guidelines
- It can involve a horse but …
- It cannot be realistic (not a three-dimensional sculpture or photo looking thing)
- Silhouettes are cool
- Cannot have eyes … for example a silhouette is okay but keep it all solid
You may be wondering why but this is for personal reasons that I decline to get into.

- It can involve the chess piece version of a horse while adhering to the constraints above

- Keep it simple. It cannot be too complex of an image.

Sample File
The sample image file is a photo of a statue of a bull. I really like how strong and confident it looks. Perhaps a variation of this could work where a horse is on a stand like the chess piece but the view is looking up at it from below and it is standing in a confident pose. Perhaps the horse from the shoulder and up is sufficient again with the view from below where the horse looks confident. Please don't think this is exactly what I want. I would like to see examples of different ideas. This sample photo shows strength and confidence in the way the bull looks. That is why I uploaded it.

Requirements

Must have

• - It must be some type of symbol
• - Colors: I personally like variants of blue and while this is not a restriction it is more of an encouragement. I would not be surprised if some other color works out better. Involving any shade of black/grey is okay. Basically it should be fairly masculine in its look in feel.

Should not have

• - NO BULLS - The uploaded photo is just a sample of what a horse might look like. So please NO BULLS
• - It *cannot* look anything like a Trojan Horse. If any single person who looks at it likens it to a Trojan Horse it will be immediately disqualified.
• - It *cannot* contradict any of the values articulated in the Task Description. For example, if the logo has a curve underneath it that looks anything like Amazon’s under-curve, then this contradicts the idea of Leading, Pioneering and not being like others. This would disqualify the design. In case you’re wondering, this does not apply to the font/text. No need to invent Knight Move Sans Serif True Type Font or whatever (but if you want to then knock yourself out!).
• - The colors cannot be soft. No pastel or powdery colors. Soft colors do not convey strength … they convey quite the opposite.
• - Do not use any variants of yellow, pink, purple, or light gradients (hues? No idea what the f’ing terminology is) of any colors except black.
• - It cannot be text only or the initials only. The primary requirement is a symbol. Having KMS as the logo with no symbol will be disqualified. Actually, I prefer the initials not to be used after seeing the submissions. No initials.
• - Do not splite "Knight" and "Move" apart. I have seen the word "Knight" on one line with "Move Solutions" on another line. It is okay to splite "Knight Move" and "Solutions" on another line but do not split "Knight Move" apart.
• - Do not use abstract symbols
