Poster Design Brief
Old Young's a small craft distillery based in the Swan Valley of Western Australia producing award-winning vodkas and gin. Check out our website www.oldyoungs.com.au to get a feel for our design aesthetic, especially from our bottle design. We are "Hand Crafted Spirits - From the Swan Valley". Everything we do reflects that.
We have a manifesto - The Old Young's Manifesto -that we proudly display in our tasting room, and was used as a basis for an artwork in our entry.
We've had a number of customers ask to buy a poster of the manifesto (attached) so I want to commission a more professional design than the current layout which was put together in Word! (yes I know, I'm sorry, I did move it into Illustrator later).
I think the text flows in a sequential order so I'm looking for a design that you read from start to finish rather than a random collection of statements. I'd like to include our logo in the design somewhere but it doesn't have to be front and centre. There is a secondary logo device as well - the interlocked O and Y on the label which could be used. I'm assuming the print will be simple black on either a plain background or a "craft background" similar to the labels. Our current fonts are SchmutzICG for text and VeneerTwo for headings. The label uses Haymaker and Gin-Rough.
Print size will be A3 (prefer the design to be to this proportion and portrait orientation) and bigger up to A1. We'll print the final design on the back of t-shirts for staff as well. If I was going to sum up our style in a couple of words it would be "intelligently irreverent" Have fun with this, I certainly did writing it!
