NOTE: My original project description was apparently misleading, as all of the early submissions were way off. I apologize for my lack of clarity. Here is simply what I am looking for:
A new logo for a charitable organization named ACP. The logo should have some sort of graphic and the letters "ACP." The mission of ACP is to design and carry out projects to benefit poor children in places like Afghanistan and Africa and elsewhere. The typical projects we sponsor our English classes, tree planting at schools, installing solar collectors at orphanages, Etc. We also are building an orphanage in Uganda for 55 children. The types of things we do can be seen on our current website (www.afghanchildproject.org, although the name of the organization is changing and most of our work is now in Africa).
HERE ARE TWO IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF THE ORGANIZATION, WHICH SHOULD BE GUIDES FOR THE LOGO DESIGN:
1, We are a very small, grass-roots, volunteer-only organization and the main volunteers pay all their own expenses as well as any expenses of thee organization (like new logo design!) so we definitely do not need slick corporate-looking clogs--we need something that conveys that we are grass-roots, bare-bones and spend every dollar donated to the projects, not on administrative expenses;
2. The other unique thing about ACP is we often design a project specifically for a donor. So if someone comes to us and says: "I feel led to sponsor a sewing class for Afghan women in some small town," we work together with the donor and try and make it happen--that is, ACP is really a vehicle for small donors to carry out their own micro projects. And we take fees for doing this.
Hope the above is helpful. Feel free to contact me with any questions. And please, one logo submission on a white background is sufficient--I definitely do not need, or want, to see concept logos in chrome mounted on slick granite office buildings--this is misinterpreting the entire charity and this project.

Requirements
Must have
- A graphic and the letters: "ACP." It may also be used with the interchangeable text "African Child Project" or "Afghan Child Project" our current two divisions.
Nice to have
- Either a graphic or a font or both that convey that we are a charitable organization that sponsors projects to improve the lives of children in poor or war-torn nations, primarily through education or environmental improvement. (We also sponsor several orphanages and teach a number of English classes)
- And we want the logo to lend itself especially to use on our new website, which we will likely design via contest once we select the logo.
Should not have
- 1. Little children's hands;
- 2. anything that ties it to any particular region.;
- 3. Anything that makes it look like a slick, multi-national corporation, which it is not (but for some reason this is the look of the logo submissions I have been seeing).
