Logo Design Brief
Pop Industrial is a software start-up based in Centurion, South Africa. We specialize in bespoke, cross-platform application design and development, systems integration, commercial and UI design, and cloud services. We need a corporate logo that communicates playfulness, brilliance and eccentricity. The Pop Industrial team celebrates colorful underdogs and strange individuals. We promote team diversity and personal idiosyncrasy, we cultivate offbeat points of view and we challenge established norms and entrenched interests. We believe green is good, science is cool, small in beautiful, people come before profit and change is the only constant.

Requirements
Must have
- Friendly, Brilliantly original, Hip and Minimalist, Playful and Eccentric, Colorful. Must scale well. To understand us, invert the company name and think 'industrial pop', as in the progressive music genre. For the word 'pop', think 'energy, originality and pizzazz', or the concept 'popular' (as in 'Popular Music'). We would ideally prefer some form of inspired typographic play (see the files attached to our brief), or an original, inspired abstract device, or alternatively, a simple hand-drawn illustration depicting impossible geometry or unorthodox problem solving in action. Combinations of these are also welcome, provided that the concept is not too busy.
Nice to have
- Whimsical, geometrical, the incorporation of impossible geometry. It should be possible to iconify the emblem to use it as an application icon and as a stitched monogram. We are also hoping to incorporate the design into vehicle and wall decals.
Should not have
- Design elements that do not scale well; Type that is difficult to read; Designs too closely reminiscent of existing corporate logos; Designs relying heavily on generally available clip-art or abstract devices that can be broadly interpreted to mean anything; Drab monochrome designs, UNLESS the underlying concept is primarily typographic or a solid monochrome that is expressly intended to work well on any coloured background.
