The Asterion Foundation (TM) requires a logo design that can be used on a website, business cards and other literature.
The foundation provides micro-grants for astronomy related projects for preparatory schools, colleges and astronomy-related venues. It can be thought of as a "supplemental" grant foundation in that its directors are attuned to developing astronomy projects that are not fully funded, and then accepts niche rolls in helping seed or complete those projects. A recent example includes seeding the exhibit materials needed to display large meteorites that were donated by another foundation. (see attachments)
Winning entrant (or entrants) may be considered for future web site graphics.
Attachments: Meteorite "E" is a 126 pound meteorite donated by a "sister" foundation. Asterion then funded the pedestal similar to the one shown in the second photo.
Thank you for your attention and ideas!

Requirements
Must have
- The logo can be a little whimsical (i.e. does not require razor sharp edges) so long as it is easy to scale and decent in gray-scale when needed. No more than 3 colors; 1 or 2 colors would be preferable. Note, the icon for the logo is more important than the "Logo Text"... that is secondary to this assignment. In fact, we might want to use the logo alone on some media, and the logo+text on others. (negotiable)
Nice to have
- Possible inspiration for logo (not required): the winning logo creator might consider Asterion the myth, particularly the Minotaur and labyrinth (see Asterion II on Wikipedia and other related materials). The "labyrinth" might be familiar to anyone looking for grant monies... maybe our logo shows the applicant a means to an end?
- Another inspiration might be the star Beta Canum Venaticorum (CVn). While Beta CVn is "secondary" to Alpha CVn (Cor Caroli), our foundation considers micro-grants to organizations that often fall through the cracks of larger foundations. Therefore, a 2-star configuration could be an inspiration for a logo, whereas the second star is the more "brilliant" star even when other stars shine more brightly? (Again, neither of the above is a requisite for qualifying).
Should not have
- ... not too many colors or minute details.
- Avoid the use of a telescope in the design unless used in a clever way. Telescopes are over-used and not inclusive toward our project goals.
