Logo Design Brief

We are starting a new construction company. We are combining an established builder with an established designer to form this new company. Both last names start with M. So we thought "M Squared Custom Homes" would be our company name. We need a logo. We were thinking to make the "M" part the building/construction part and the small "2" the design part. Our original thought would be the M would look big and bulky while the 2 looks smaller fun and creative. However, we are open to other ideas as well. We need to put the words "Custom Homes" and "Design" in the logo. As well as our last names "McNally" and "Myers". We also like the idea of using the word "plus" or "+" symbol between our names and/or between words custom homes and design...as a reference to math like M Squared. But as I said, we are open to any ideas.
