This logo design is part of a marketing rebrand project for an existing, husband and wife owned, small business called Breadwinner Bakehouse. The bakery is located in Mundaring, a small, semi-rural town in the Perth Hills on the fringe of the capital city Perth in Western Australia.
The owners Tom and Maggie are Danish and Irish, respectively, by birth. They bring European knowledge, sensibilities and ideas of traditional baking to their business and are genuinely passionate about what they do.
Key Messages
We handcraft small batch products using premium quality ingredients (locally sourced where possible) and time-honoured, traditional methods that produce a healthier, tastier product that you can eat with confidence.
A. Superior quality ingredients – locally sourced (where possible), home grown, wild yeasts, natural, delicious
B. Healthy, traditional methods - stone baked, handcrafted, old recipes, 24-hour fermentation, easy to digest, gluten-free options
C. Local and community-minded – singular small business (non-franchised), husband and wife team
We want to retain the name “Breadwinner” but change “Bakehouse” to “Bakery” and include a tagline that reflects our key messages, something along the lines of “Naturally good for you” or “Naturally delicious”.
The logo is part of a comprehensive rebrand that will include a store renovation and the look and feel we are going for is rustic, vintage, earthy, cool retro, eco-chic using natural materials of timber, wrought iron, baskets, paper etc. (see attached inspiration photos). The final design should appeal to the “Hills” environment, be natural, comfortable, relaxed yet modern and sophisticated.
Target Market(s)
Mundaring Shire is a small suburban/semi-rural community of 36,500 people in the Perth Hills, 50 mins from the city. Breadwinner Bakery is located in the main village and services the local community predominantly families, tradesmen, professionals, retirees/elderly. Mundaring also attracts a sizeable number of tourists, mainly on the weekends including cyclists, bikers, car enthusiasts, retirees/elderly groups, city day-tripper families, backpackers, farmers, people in transit and people visiting for particular regional events.
