Packaging Design Brief
We need a packaging design for our start-up Jubilee. Jubilee makes a menstrual cramp relief product based on Chinese medicine. The product is an herbal powder dissolved in water and will be sold online in the US, targeted towards 22-35 year old women. There are 14 herbs in it (see below).
The product is drank twice a day. Once in morning and once in the evening. The powder is about 6 grams and the consumer will dissolve it in water in a shot glass. Consumer will drink it quickly. Packaging can have a "AM" and a "PM" version to help consumers remember when to take them.
We want our consumers to think of packaging as an experience! Packaging means two things:
1. Aluminum sealed sachet (think tea) that prevents water from coming in. We want to make it fun, so ways to make it stand out is to make it circular (like a period) or to make it like a bubble so that consumer can "pop" it out into the glass.
Measurement: 2.5 x 2.5 inches (able to fit in that space)
*Have a front and back design. Leave room in the back for "supplement fact." Look at Herbal zap packaging: https://www.herbalzap.com/product/digestive-support-soothing/
2. Cardboard box front, 2 sides, back - measurement: 2.6 x 2.6 x 3.6 inches
We have attached our logo, so that you can incorporate it into the packaging. We like the mint/indigo color combination of FATCO skincare products: https://www.fatco.com/shop-our-products/face/cleansing-oil#?offset=0&limit=24
On 1 side - please include the 14 herbs in our product; would love for a side of the outer box packaging to have images of all the herbs in order to show transparency. The other side can be word filler for now (will most likely become directions to take the product)
Updates
Exta guidance:-Packaging colors and design need to stand out in a crowded aisle of supplements. Can't look very "busy" and needs to look minimalist and higher end-I would ask you to use bolder colorblocking like FATCO skincare and Republic of Tea Get Well/Clean line. We don't need to stick to the logo colors only. I imagine packaging to be a lot more colorful (kind of like India's Holi festival). Use of bright gold, orange, burgundy, etc is all welcome to give the idea that the product is letting a woman CELEBRATE her womanhood!-We want the consumer to get a sense of fun and vivaciousness (not yoga zen)-There will be ten small packages inside (5 morning and 5 evening) - AM and PM packets are the same, but perhaps the colors can be different for both as an extra reminder to take it.Please look at TATCHA skincare products for packaging inspiration. I like their minimalist, detail-oriented, modern, and clean feel. Added Monday, October 24, 2016
Project Deadline Extended Reason: Have not found a satisfactory design on outer and inner packaging yet. Added Monday, October 31, 2016
