Logo Design Brief

2ND UPDATE: Hello good people. I really appreciate the entries but I'm a little concerned at this point. I like the entries I've rated but my favourites are more of a corporate logo and motif that are stylish but don't fit the brief OR they're striving to meet the brief but are only halfway there in terms of execution (generally they're too cartoon-like and not the photo-realistic - or creative - interpretation of the Stonehenge slabs of rock I'm desperately after). Please HELP! I know it's not your usual font...but if someone can nail the stone/granite look in a striking way they'll be a friend for life! And, as I said in the original brief, there's many more opportunities to come, so please give it a go and let's start an ongoing relationship. Cheers!

UPDATE: Please see two new PDFs attached to act as style guides - 'Draft Sporthenge logo' to show the rock slabs and shadow concept...& 'Stoney Sporthenge logo' to show how the stone slabs could be developed in a circle just like the real Stonehenge. Forgive my drawing because it is decidedly average(!!!)...but anyone who can get the stone font going or - even better - creates a SPORTHENGE logo that looks like a photo-realistic Stonehenge (perhaps more in a circle with awesome spacing and general cleverness!) will leap to the top of my 'Favourites' list. SPORTHENGE is a new company focused on providing sports marketing solutions to clients...whilst creating, developing and implementing innovative sports products, web shows and events of its own.

SPORTHENGE is for worshippers of sport; those with such a passion for sport that it is an integral part of their lives - especially as fans...engaged fans.

I want SPORTHENGE to grow into a tribe; a community that likes the company and its products, and also enjoys each other's online posts and observations and looks forward to catching up face-to-face.

I want the SPORTHENGE logo to be Stonehenge-style. Google Stonehenge and see the sun coming up behind those slabs - amazing! Preferably blocks of stone spelling out SPORTHENGE in a clever, cool manner - not too cartoony, more photo-realistic (but it's pretty obvious what it spells out). Does the H become a set of rugby goalposts? Is the O a giant football or do the centre parts of the P and the R incorporate rugby or soccer balls? Colour-wise, it's probably grey with hints of moss green and yellow (cast by the sun rising behind the letters).

SPORTHENGE makes for a long logo, so it could be that it gets broken up. Perhaps the SPORT is spelled out in the blocks of stone style, but the HENGE is in the shadow cast by sun rising behind the giant slabs.

It's important to note here that while Stonehenge is ancient and evokes images of medieval times, it's more the mystery of the site I want to capture while also - I guess (hadn't really thought about it!) - providing a SPORTS ALTAR for sports worshippers to make a pilgrimage to and engage with.

Also, from a brand fit perspective, the sports products I've developed have a new tech edge, incorporating technology with good content, to hopefully chart new territory online and at events. A Comic-Con of SPORTS anyone?

So, once again I pose a little question without really knowing the answer (that's what you clever design gurus are for!): Is the SPORT in Stonehenge-style and the HENGE something more futuristic or sports-oriented? Or vice versa?

Also, if we were an app, how would that be depicted? Do we have a motif that encapsulates SPORTHENGE? A stone set of giant cricket stumps with bails and a ball? A giant set of stone slab soccer goalposts with a rock football?

The logo will be at the heart of business cards, letterhead, online collateral (for use on a website and in social media) and events (a logo on the TV screen behind a presenter or on signage such as banners and back-drops). SPORTHENGE may also appear at the end of web shows as one of the production houses producing the show.

Whenever I hand out my SPORTHENGE business card I want to feel proud of how professional it looks, how creative it is and what it encapsulates, including a bit of mystery and a whole heap of fun. I want SPORTHENGE to be a movement that sports worshippers want to be involved with.

Please note, SPORTHENGE is the base logo that I'm after, but I'm also developing several sub-brands that will need illustrating in the near future. It could very well be that a designer doesn't get selected for this project, but their style is perfect for other upcoming logos/graphics. I certainly look forward to seeing who connects with the project and shares my passion.
