Poster Design Brief
Design needed for a largescale print to be framed and displayed in a corporate CEO office. This executive has an affinity for crowdsourcing and a passion for film festivals. We are looking for an artist to create a statement piece of sophisticated memorabilia that incorporates collaged images from 25 film festivals that this executive attended over the past 12 years.
We are looking for a pop collage feel that combines typography, images, patterns and colors. It can be wild and entertaining or reserved & sophisticated (we are OPEN). We want to be surprised. Overall, we want it to be creative and contemporary. Minimal white space preferred.
The goal is to get a contemporary look and memorable imagery that commemorates these film festivals in a unique and personal way.
We will provide image files for the film festival posters to be used = 24 images total (note: Unable to find image for Vail Film Festival 2005 so please add this as a typographical element within the design).
You can do whatever you want:
a. use some images, elements and palette from individual posters b. certain posters are favorites and should stand out as features in the design:
Traverse City Film Festival 2007: poster in its entirety
Traverse City Film Festival 2015: slogan "1 Great Movie Can Change You"
Traverse City Film Festival 2016: poster in its entirety
c. plug and play from all the posters
d. recombine elements from multiple posters and their palettes in a new and
interesting montage
Reference and inspiration for this collage can be found in the work of contemporary artists that combine images:
a. Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat
b. Jeff Koons cartoon/collage paintings
c. Margaret Kilgallen
d. Stuart Davis
(Note: We are not looking for a copy from any of the above artists. These images are meant to be a starting point and inspiration only.)
The artwork will be giclee printed on archival paper at dimensions of approximately 48” x 48”. Please make your finished designs in the same aspect ratio of 1:1 and save at a high-quality resolution of 400 dpi and/or .eps file.
We may make modifications to the final designs and therefore need the finished artwork and the layers in an Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator file. We do plan to credit the designer when the artwork is shown.
Look and Feel: Modern, graphic, personable, upmarket, sophisticated memorabilia
