Logo Design Brief

I am a documentary photographer searching for a SIMPLE, DISTINCTIVE, MODERN and FRESH logo that is distinctive among the family photography industry which is saturated with handwritten, super feminine logos and flowery graphics.

Documentary photography is about capturing unscripted, unposed, and raw moments. This is not about parks at sunset and smiling children in matching clothes or babies in baskets (NOTE: Many are quite talented at this type of photography, and I respect them for that, but this is not for me, personally). My logo should reflect my style and vision with a clean and modern look, while still appealing to my clientele, which is often mothers.

In addition to documentary family photography work, I also do NGO documentary work abroad. My logo needs to strike a the perfect balance between feminine and masculine for the work I do and the type of client I want to attract. I am open to a very judicious use of any handwritten font. That said, the market in my area is SATURATED with overdone graphics, birds, handwritten fonts, florals, and nautical elements (I live in Annapolis, outside of Washington, D.C.). My logo needs to be DISTINCTIVE from all of this. Yet, it also needs to have a crafted, creative and personal touch to appeal to mothers. Easier said than done!

I am launching a new business this fall and the first impression needs to be polished and professional. • Dark Greys
• sans serif
• versatile across multiple mediums
• easily readable at any size
• well balanced
• all pieces should be integrated and WORK TOGETHER AS ONE (typeface/fonts should enhance one another and initial icons and text should work together well, not look like two logos sitting next to one another).

Should not have

• circular stamp-like logos
• handwritten fonts
• florals + cameras + any large distracting graphic elements
• serif fonts
• i am not looking for replicas of my attachments.
