Logo Design Brief

Here is a brief we've used for a recent job ad to give you a feel for our business:

Have you ever wanted to connect your head to heart in your work? Can you imagine finance with a social conscience? We are a start-up company with a unique agenda.

Financial markets will always be there. The money that is accessible in these markets will always exist, regardless of the rights or wrongs of it. We believe that being a dedicated market professional doesn't need to be at the expense of employees, society, or anyone. Our goal is to ensure that social benefits come from the success of our corporate business. The ownership in our company rests ultimately within a charitable entity so that 100% of the dividends will flow into the charitable sector, as opposed to 1or 2% which is the industry average.

Shareholders as an interest group have a corrupting influence on a business. They either demand an economic return with little to no involvement in the business (as in listed entities), or they concentrate wealth into the hands of the very few who started the business. In both cases, the interests of the shareholders and the interests of the employees and customers are often very different.

The effect of having social foundations as shareholders is that economically interested shareholders have been removed as a driver from the company’s business model. This means that we can focus on the real business of making money by creating the best working and pay conditions for our employees and connecting this success back to the society that we feel an obligation to support.

The business is just three months old. The founders have decades of market experience and are looking for people motivated to work alongside them as they drive a paradigm change in how a company treats the people who work for it and the profits it makes. If you want to be part of this change, read on.

............................................................................

The company's name is Vivienne Court Trading. The name comes from a wonderful old block of apartments in Bondi Beach, Sydney. It was built in the '80's, not architecture's most notable period, but it was built for the tenant in mind as opposed to the developer, so it was about doing it right. The name also represents that its home, its a place to belong and finally it represents nothing it all, its just a name, so its very Buddhist in that all things are essentially empty of any real meaning.

Hope this helps.

Updates

Dear Designers,

Thanks for your wonderful submissions so far. We've had 35 in the first day. There are some I liked at first glance and others again when I came back to them. Some of the designs take awhile to seep in, so we won't be discarding any at all until the project deadline closes and we can see all the designs in one viewing.

Many of you have asked for feedback which is a fair request, but if you could bear with us and wait till the end and we shall respond to everyone who submitted a design with some advice on how it did or did not meet the brief.

We're loving the creative interpretations you're all taking on the project.

Cheers,

Vivcourt team

Dear Designers, we have almost finalised our decision. There has been much discussion amongst us and the results are far from unanimous. The designs put forward by all of you have been exciting and the creative take on the brief has been stimulating to see. We shall post feedback to everyone who submitted on their designs in the coming few days. Thanks you for your efforts and best wishes from us.

The Viv Court team.

Requirements
Must have
  • The logo doesn't need to have the full company name, it can be creatively incorporated somewhere in it. There are really no "must have's". It can be either words or images, or a combination of both.

What I would most like it to become is iconic, in the way Pepsi or Nike has, something that touches the psyche of people as we're trying to revamp how the corporate markets work for the world.
