Web Design Brief

Build a website for a new business that is an off shoot of my primary business as an interior designer. These days, with Houzz, HGTV and print media telling people they can be their own interior designer, General Contractors building a new home or remodeling, are frustrated because they do not get the information they need to be able to build or remodel. Clients/owners are often unaware that picking the pretty things like faucets, tile or appliances require specifications and drawings to tell the individual sub contractors how to proceed with their work, or to bid the project correctly. The professional interior designer used to fill this gap. Even if there is an architect on the project, many architects do not issue an ID Set (Interior Design Set). To fill this gap, we have started Spec Design Group. Although we are interior designers, we will provide only specification services. By interfacing with the client and contractor, we will provide the client with a schedule and prompt them when it is time to shop. Additionally, we will give them a list of GC preferred vendors for them to shop with. Once selections have been made, specifications will be written, plans will be tagged. This process continues for all the pieces necessary for a home to be built: Plumbing, Appliances, Mouldings, Interior Doors, Cabinets, Hard Surfaces (Including counters, and showers), Flooring, Motorized Window Coverings, Hardware, Room Finish Schedule, Lighting - Recessed, Decorative and Exterior, Electrical Outlets, Exterior Hardscape Materials.

Professional contractors are used to receiving this information. Without the interior designer, the contractor often has to step in to guide the client. This takes him or her away from their actual job of building the house. What this translates to is a project that becomes late and over budget. The cost benefit of the specification process is that the project can be delivered on time, and helps to control the budget. By delivering on time, the homeowner does not incur additional interest charges and other costs involved in construction delays.

I would like a website that is built on a platform that I can edit if I need to do so, without having to call someone else to do it. Perhaps on Wix or Square Space if this is possible. I would like the ability to link social media. Also, if the photos need changing, it should be something simple for me to do. The website should be relatively simple. Show a few photos of the finished product along with the drawings that led up to them. I would also like to show a project spec sheet.

I've uploaded the photos and some of the documentation. The documentation will be a placeholder for the moment. I will change them to reflect the new logo and change the clients name. These will be ready next week, but for now we can use what I'm providing.

I like the "background' squiggle on my logo. Perhaps this can be integrated in some way. The website should tell in a concise manner what we do and who we do it for. It should appeal to the General Contractor, but could also be directed to the homeowner. I have lots of other photos if more are needed, but these are a start. I think too much info on the website won't help.
