Logo Design Brief
We need a logo design for a new Technical Consulting company startup in Los Angeles. It sounds relatively simple on the surface, but, if you will indulge me, I want to give you some background on the company so you get a feel for who we are.
We specialize in both consulting engagements and staff augmentation in the technical space. We are looking for a classical logo we can use on business cards, stationary, web site, etc. Our clients are companies ranging from small mom and pop business looking for infrastructure support as well as mid to large size organizations who desire time and materials or fixed bid consulting engagements. We are looking for a design that is simple, but at the same time a not as boring as most consulting firm logos (Teksystems, OSI, Modis, Accenture). Something classic that shows professionalism without being too boring at the same time.
My background is in enterprise IT. I then moved into technical recruiting and Technical Project Management in the ERP (Oracle EBS) space. After working with many people in technical staffing and consulting, I realized that very few have any actual experience in technology. I want to build this company with people from the technical industry as a "For Us By Us" company, with people that truly understand technology...not just how to "sell" it.
We believe that our industry is built on relationships. Even though I love the move Glengarry Glen Ross, Boiler Room, and the new series House of Lies on Showtime, we hold those up as how NOT to treat our clients. I have been the client, and sat across the table from that crappy sales guy, and I want to protect my culture from this type of person at all cost.
We will eventually want to expand our reach to encompass Business Consulting, Legal Consulting, and Executive Search, all by bringing in Subject Matter Experts in these fields and growing organically.
Ultimately, we will also branch into and Angel Investment firm, helping to launch new startup ventures. One of the reasons I stated this consulting company is because it is what I know. I realize that I might not be able to participate directly in the creating an awesome new startup, but I can help get them off the ground. While not a true "high-tech" startup, we embrace the spirit of those companies and want to cultivate that creativity and energy in our own culture as well as the ventures we end up funding.
Finally, we are a company that believes in community. Although still in the early stages, we do believe in supporting the arts, local events, public radio, and our community. We are developing programs internally to promote these activities by our staff as well as in an official capacity as a company.
So now you know the grand scheme of the company I am getting started. I am at the very beginning phases right now, which is why I am holding this contest for a logo. Because this is the first thing people will see – on business cards, swag, emails, stationary, the web site, etc. – I believe that this is very important to us. As we do believe in relationships in business, this contest is for the logo, but we are hoping to find a design partner we can continue to use as our needs grow.
I know this is a lot to capture in a logo, but I do feel it is important that you had a background of my company, how I wish to operate, and the culture we are trying to up hold. Of course we need the name of the company some how - The DeLeon Group, LLC, TDG, DeLeon, etc. - but please feel free to add in a tag line if you like.
There are lots of other options to select below, but please don't let any of my selections inhibit your creativity.
