I believe marketing (and brand) should stand for perpetual curiosity & improvement. There's no end point, there's just continual refinement of the craft. More to learn, more precision to work towards and achieve, more tools leverage that haven't been created yet -- and the continual pursuit of better.

When I take on staff, or decide what my ideal partners look like -- it's those who are committed to that same commitment of a little better, a little more -- each time you deliver a strategy, an operations plan, an executional deliverable so it never becomes about copy & paste...or...it worked last time.

Anyone who's been a marketer at a brand, or at an agency or a consultancy can offer some version of services I deliver.

I'm not sure if there's a good direct competitor I can think of that would be helpful.


List three ways your business differs from your competitors:
Uh-oh. I included 6. Too many? Don't hate me -- let me know if you want me to cull down or talk through them.

Business-focused recommendations. I integrate with existing teams. Because I've worked in a number of capacities and was either responsible for the P&L of my service business, and to the business outcomes of the business I service -- I can help CEOs deliver value with consumer facing communication or in-house operations.

I stand behind the delivery. I have done, and do the strategy and performance analysis. Even if I hire someone to work with me to augment, it's a function of my time vs my expertise; so I interrogate the work as someone who understands the work (vs, someone who runs an account.)

Deep, variety of experience. Because I've worked in media, agency, and brand-side -- I have worked inside multiple business models and can adapt to the client's business based on real working knowledge.

Efficiently priced. I only staff people on a project when-needed. I don't run an agency, nor do I want to. This prevents me from trying to staff people on projects just because they might be open, and saves the client money.

Practical recommendations. I work as an in-house VP marketing for a few businesses; and take on projects based on fit & opportunity. I understand how to work with sales/operations/product/finance teams with implementation experience; so my recommendations are grounded in practical application.

Just what's needed. Because I have stable clients, this helps prevent the 'continual hustle' to try to artificially grow my work with clients. I deliver what's needed for the clients' business.


What do you know about your ideal client? Be as descriptive as possible.
I have worked at agencies and brand-side -- either on big brands, start-ups, consumer products, media properties, and global philanthropies; developing marketing strategies, plans, and partnerships. The type of business is less important than the mindset of the team; clients who are open with information, trust the process, are collaborative, and aware of what they know and what they don't are always the dream.

There's part of me that's cynical about consulting and a natural skeptic. A lot of people do it, a lot of people claim to know more than they've actually done and are better at pitching themselves than delivering. I air on the side of being conservative when explaining my skill set. I want to balance the message of credibility & experience with creativity.
