We are an academic research group at the University of Oxford, working in computational genetics. We need a logo for our new open source command line tool, Octopus. Octopus processes a large amount of genetic data generated from DNA sequencing to predict an individuals genetic profile, a problem called 'variant calling'.
We would like a simple, sleek, and memorable logo for Octopus. Ideally the design will incorporate elements that make the connection with genetics (e.g. a double helix or chromosome), and of course include an octopus in some shape or form. The logos text should be separable from the main figure, so that the figure can be used independently.
We've included two images of existing octopus logos (found on Google images) that we like for inspiration. We've also included some double helix artwork that may be useful.
