Book Cover Design Brief
We need a cover for a new academic journal on deconstruction and psychoanalysis. The name of the journal is "The Undecidable Unconscious: A Journal of Deconstruction and Psychoanalysis" (UU) and it is published by the University of Nebraska Press(UNP).
Here is a description of the journal on the UNP website:
http://www.nebraskapress.unl.edu/product/The-Undecidable-Unconscious,675803.aspx
We are looking for a design that is more abstract and does not have icons or photographs of people, especially not photos of Derrida or Freud. The design should be contemporary with clean lines and simple fonts. Again, it should be abstract, with no icons or iconography.
The cover should simply have the full name of the journal and then "Volume 1, Issue 1, 2014" on the cover and "Vol. 1, No. 1, 2014" on the spine.
Attached you can see some ideas that we rejected from UNP. It is important that you understand that these designs were rejected and are just being offered as examples of what the cover will look like in general, as a template of sorts.
The cover should have a bold abstract design, with a space for the title and "Volume 1, Issue 1, 2014."
Something bold and contemporary.
