Web Design Brief
We need a redesign of a site for a new startup that lists local events such as concerts, night clubs, stand up comedy shows, theater plays, festivals, conferences, seminars, and family events.
The original design was done by programmers, not designers, and thus can be greatly improved, especially in terms of flow and usability.
The current site can be viewed at:
http://projects.truelogictechnology.com/cittando/index.php/events/
The successful designer may also be hired for additional work. In fact, we are looking for a long-time partner that may eventually fill a Creative Director role with this new venture..
Things to note:
The site should not look like a nightlife/disco/club site since the site lists events from concerts to conferences to family events.
There is a lot of content on the site, thus it needs to be clean, easy to read and navigate.
Our mission is to have a “Unique” site, that stands out from the traditional ones
Currently the site has these main sections:
Homepage
Events
Venues
Cinema
These sections have the following content types or page layouts:
Homepage
Listing of events
Listing of venues
Event details
Venue details
Cinema summary page
Film details
Film theater details
Blog/news
Account overview page

Please note, an important element of the site is the location picker that is currently on the top left of our site (the black drop down button that says "change", enter Roma for example). The site displays events based on user location, users need to know what city the site is using and need to be able to change such city. This works similar to many sites such as www.groupon.com, www.clubzone.com, and www.eventful.com.
Also, please note that we would eventually use background ads on the homepage. See www.fandango.com for example.
I have extended the project further. Thanks!

Please note, after the main menu (Home, Events, Venues, Cinema) these pages or features are very important and should be visible and prominent. We currently have them on a bar across the top that remains fixed as you scroll down, but it may not be the best location, so we look forward to some fresh ideas. Thanks.
In order of importance:
- Change your location (Button that says current city with option to change it)
- Add event (link)
- Add venue (link)
- Login (link)
- Change language (drop down button with languages)

When submitting a design, please submit two versions, one with background advertisement, and one without. This way we can see if there are too many colors or distractions.
Here is a sample background advertisement to use: http://adagiobanner.s3.amazonaws.com/img_uploads/72/77_191072_3_Samsung_Piano_Note_Mediamond_tgcom_skin2.jpg

Hello all, thanks for submitting your beautiful designs. It has made our decision very difficult. We decided to award to project to Kalgrado, who is currently working on making some tweaks to his submission. Thus are no longer accepting designs. Thanks again.

Requirements
Must have
- Needs to follow 960 grid system. See http://960.gs.
Nice to have
- We like the colors Amazon Local
(http://local.amazon.com/westside-south-bay)
We like Groupon theme as well
(http://www.groupon.com/los-angeles/)
Eventful is a site similar to ours, we like the overall layout and how easy it is to navigate, not necessarily the colors though:
Should not have
- The site should not look like a nightlife/disco/club site.
Besides clubs, the site lists events from concerts to conferences to family events.
Should definitely not use serif fonts such as Times New Roman
