Logo Design Brief
I need a logo with which to present my new musical project - "Believing Reason".
The background behind the name is essentially to do with the faith and trust we have to put in our own judgments to guide us through life, even when they may be based on imperfect information and as such may lead to flawed decisions.... not sure how that helps with the imagery but.....
The logo could be simply the words "Believing Reason" presented in a suitably eye-catching manner, or combined with some kind of symbol/ icon that seems appropriate. I'm looking for more than just the words written in a fancy font though. The font itself needs to be quite unusual. Something abstract and angular will be preferred over something with smooth curves ;). It doesn't even necessarily have to be easily legible.
As for the musical content, it is quite varied but for the most part it's dark, atmospheric, progressive rock/ metal with an introspective lyrical content (for reference - Opeth, Meshuggah, Strapping Young Lad, Anathema, Pain of Salvation etc.), so the design should reflect a bit of that atmosphere somehow, and yet not look so dark that it suggests a death/ black metal band. I want there to be room to 'straddle genres' if necessary so it shouldn't look too 'metal' ;)
Updates
Thanks for the many, many designs that have been submitted. Unfortunately, only a small handful have come close to what I'm looking for. Firstly, (and apologies for the lack of clarity - I thought I'd entered 'greyscale' in the brief but it doesn't appear to be there anymore), the logo should really work in black and white (so a negative of each logo would be appreciated). The font should have a bit of character to it rather than looking like something straight off a word-processing programme or generic photoshop. In general, it should project more of a serious, sombre, introspective mood. Possibly subtle elements of the gothic style even. I don't mind curves - it shouldn't be pure right-angled block text, but if curves are used it should look more sinister than sexy. Above all, it should look like art!
