Logo Design Brief

We need a logo design for a new collaborative project on research policy, funded by the European Commission and coordinated by the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), called GENDER-NET.
This recently-launched ERA-NET scheme (European Research Area Network) is a flagship initiative designed to address the common challenges still facing European academic and research institutions in achieving gender equality in research and innovation.
The GENDER-NET Consortium brings together key national public research programme owners – namely ministries, research-funding agencies and a few other organisations – in Europe, as well as in North America, which share a common commitment to the promotion of gender equality and the integration of the gender dimension in research contents. The consortium is meant to widen and partners will join forces to implement joint transnational activities in order to help reach a critical mass of universities and research institutions across Europe which will engage in initiatives promoting gender equality and gender mainstreaming in research (see uploaded file for a fuller description of the project).
The logo will be used on all communication and dissemination material as well as on the future project website, yet to be designed - hopefully through the designer we select for the logo!

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: Dear Designers, Thanks a lot to those of you who already have submitted logo proposals! Some are quite nice, however we haven't yet found one that really corresponds to what we are looking for with this project. Therefore, I'm extending the deadline for another week. And here are some additional indications which I hope can help you in refining your designs - or in submitting new ones: -the GENDER-NET project is about gender equality (in research), about collaboration between different countries (mainly in Europe) to help reach that goal, it is not about complementarity between the two genders, so yin-yang symbols, or interlocked female & male symbols, or human face profiles with the "male" profile in front of the "female" one, are not the best ideas -please do not use light blue & pink colors -do not forget to put the hyphen in "GENDER-NET" -although the logo should be self-explanatory and grab the eye, explaining your concept is always useful Thank you very much in advance for your work - and happy new year to all of you !!! -A
