Logo Design Brief

Hi! I'm looking for someone to take over the design of my companies logo. I hired the task to an old friend which was a mistake. the has taken way to long and I'm not satisfied with the results. I'll upload what he has done so far and some things he did i like.

What I Like:
- I like the data cable end on the star. would be cool to see other takes on how this could look.
-The out line of the 'M' inside of the star. stands out for Morning star. would be cool to see some variations where the 'M' is used in the actual word 'mornigstar' for the logo
- I like how the logo isnt very confusing and lets the customer know exactly the kind of work my business does.


What I don't like:
- The star seems kind of to 'plump' for the lack of a better word ( i understand it needed to be for the words to fit in but its just not the look i think i really want.
- I want the star to kind of seem like its made up of the data cable, not just the end.
- I kind of wanted the logo to be have a more 'polished' feel. It seems like it just needs more substance or color. I'm kind envisioning a combo of blue/ black/ gray or silver/ and white to make the words of the logo easily read.

These are some ideas I have but am more than willing to see you use some creative freedom on this. Feel free to vary from the initial design I upload. The most important thing is the logo doesn't confuse people. I want them to look at it and understand the kind of work we do.
