Logo Design Brief

HC LOGO Contest – descriptionHumanist Canada is the national association for Humanist education in Canada. We need a new logo. Our existing logo is dated and boring. There are numerous Humanist organizations that us the “happy human” or a rendition of this same “face” to denote their association with Humanism. Humanist Canada is not married to the use of the “happy human”, but it should not be seen as the only design to get Humanist Canada noticed. The idea is to have a symbol can be easily recognized with or without the words Humanist Canada next to it. Some really great examples of a symbol that can be easily recognized are the UN logo, the Canadian maple leaf, the international symbol of access (wheelchair), the Red Cross, the recycling symbol, the Twitter bird, and the Nike swoosh. These are more symbols than logos based on stylized words, like Coca-Cola and Google. Here is a bit about our organization. Humanist Canada has charitable status in Canada. Our formal registration as a charitable entity is based on education. Our scope includes the expansion of Secular Humanist critical thinking. We support the United Nations declaration on human rights as stated in their policy document. Humanist Canada is embarking on a “re-branding” of its image and website and we need an updated, modern and intriguing logo.
