Logo Design Brief

We need a logo designed for an online community called the Mentor Academy. The community is open to certain students who have demonstrated excellence in particular subjects. There are two goals of the community, "to teach others" and "to be a public services", each of which come from the latin phrases "docendo discimus"; by teaching we learn, and "pro bono publico"; public service in the nature of the profession. The color scheme is open, but I envision something with a deep red. We are affiliated with the University of Michigan which uses colors ffcb05 and 00274c, which means this logo will appear often on the web page and such. But the logo for the Mentor Academy should be independent of this. I would like to choose as a basis for this image the front entrance of the Clemens Library, which has two roman arches, which speak to the two latin phrases. Ideally the logo is stylized incorporating these columns, and gives a sense of duty and strength along with prestige. I would prefer a logo which could be drawn with a dozen or penstrokes, instead of something which is very detailed and feels like a sketch of architecture. The logo will be used as the focal point of a single page website, and used in conjunction with the words "Mentor Academy" .
