Logo Design Brief

Logo needed for newly formed consortium:Beyond the Save-Opioid Abuse Response (SOAR) Consortium The opioid epidemic has taken an increasing toll on residents in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The SOAR project focuses on increased participation of emergency first responders in efforts to address the opioid (and other substance use disorders) epidemic. Emergency first responders are critical to revival during an overdose, and are trained medically to revive the patient. Although first responders are often positioned and willing to go “Beyond the Save,” they lack the training, information, and support from leadership to capitalize on those opportunities. This project will explore ways that EMS can take a more active role in preventing opioid addiction and overdoses, engaging patients and loved ones in discussion about referral and treatment, and sharing data that enables stakeholders to take more effective action to address the opioid epidemic. (The consortium goes by the name SOAR for ease of communicating the name, but SOAR doesn't explain the purpose of the consortium. Beyond the Save is a more fitting description of the potential involvement of EMS beyond reviving a patient that has overdosed.)

Requirements

Must have

• The consortium has decided that the word SOAR should be included in the logo, Attached also are some b/w sample logos developed by a consortium member who does not have much design experience. Our desire is that the logo will incorporate a sense of hope, or rising above.

Nice to have

• The tagline Rising Above Opioid Addiction is a desired element. The logo should include the Star of Life (sample attached), and possibly a geographical representation of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (indicated by the letter A on the Michigan map, also attached).
• Colors would ideally mimic the branding of the parent organization Michigan Rural EMS Network (www.mirems.org), but the logo should have an overall look that is independent of the MiREMS logo. Colors and the MiREMS logo are also attached for reference.
