Icon Design Brief

OUTCOME: A completely original, coherent and consistently styled icon set for 60 astrological symbols (icons/glyphs/sigils).


STYLE: open to whatever looks great… initial idea is for Japanese "Zen" calligraphy brush strokes based design.


END USE: These symbols will be put onto different backgrounds and printed on cards… like an oracle deck, or tarot card deck (printed to this ICC profile for HP Indigo Press: https://www.makeplayingcards.com/dl/HPIndigoGlossExp05.zip). They will also be converted into a font and used in text writings printed in book format and on a website.


OUTPUTS:

1. Source Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop files with full Brush set used (and number/name noted so it can be used in future) set for professional print production (CMYK 300dpi 10cm wide x 15cm high suitable for the end use noted above). Each icon should be separate from other icons (a layer or group of layers) and able to be cut and pasted into a new file etc.

2. Vector versions of all icons (in one Adobe Illustrator file or individual), with each of the 60 icons completely separate in two colors: A completely BLACK (or greyscale) vector version, and a completely WHITE vector version, both on transparent backgrounds.


INPUTS:

You will need to follow the structure of the example icons. These are provided in two files. The first group of icons is the 48 astrological bodies. The second group is the 12 signs of the zodiac. I am VERY OPEN to more creative interpretations of the 12 signs of the zodiac to match the style you create for the astrological bodies.

DESIGN: Please select 3 or more icons of very different structures and produce your example design. From there I will refine and select someone to design the complete set of 60 icons.
