Label Design Brief

We’re looking for a designer to develop a new label for our bottled Kukui oil. Final design files (including original file) would be provided to Elemental Blue to make versions and updates as needed.

The label will be applied to a 4 ounce light amber PET Cosmo round bottle (with a white disc top cap). Specs, content to include and more direction are provided in the provided brief.

Target Market(s)

Women and men, ages 25-49, who care about their skin and know what they do now is going to affect their skin as they age. They care about using natural products and want to know the ingredients. They’re aware of harmful ingredients (like parabens and phthalates), and if they aren’t aware, they want to be informed.

Their focus is on the overall value and experience provided by the product.

Must have

• The goal is to look simple and classic, and cater to men and women.
• Include the Elemental Blue logo (either vertical or horizontal version)
• A UPC Code must be added to the box (location can be on the back lower corner). The size is 1.5 inches wide by .5 inches high. A code will be provided once a design draft is reviewed, since an annual cost will incur once a code is purchased.
• Messaging Requirements for label:

• Include ingredients listing using a font size no less than 1/16” in height:
• Ingredients: Cold pressed kukui oil (aleurites moluccana), Vitamin E and phthalate-free lime fragrance.

• Include Directions for Use after or near Ingredients listing:
• Directions for Use: Apply a few drops as needed to your body, face or hair.

• Warnings: For external use only. not recommended for those with nut allergies. Use as directed. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children.

• Promotional copy to include:
• Kukui oil is widely used by the Hawaiian surfing community to help heal cuts, scrapes and sunburns. With high levels of linoleic and alpha-linolenic acids, this light oil deeply penetrates the skin’s tissues without leaving a greasy film.
• Other uses: An everyday moisturizer. Treats eczema and psoriasis. Removes make-up.

Nice to have

• The flower from the logo represents “natural beauty” and we currently use it on its own and incorporate it as a design element. We’re open to enhancing the flower, using it in different ways or not using it on its own at all.
